Shalom Elaine, Thanks for the response. Although I am not in any way involved with this project, when I put it on the Friedman Family Genealogy Forum I figured to get more response if for no other reason because of curiosity, but you are the first.
If you are interested, you can get to their site by going to JewishGen The Home of Jewish Geneaology and clicking on Genealogy by Genetics-DNA Testing, then to Family Tree DNA (FTDNA). You will end up at "http://www.familytreedna.com/".
It is a very interesting place to surf.
DNA cannot prove or disprove anything but possibly a common Y-chromosome gene pool that is linked to the middle east or to other Jews and/or possibly to a known Jewish family if the more specific type of testing is performed.
As to who is or is not a descendant of King David I am confident will be left to the hands of G-d and the prophet he will provide to anoint whoever this person is. Everything else as they say is commentary.
I am interested in your Friedman Web Site. I have not had a lot of success with my Friedman part of this endeavor. I have only traced my family back to my Great-Great Grandfather somewhere in Hungary. But that area as you are probably aware had ever changing boundaries. They may have been from any one of several surrounding countries. As we Jews moved from country to country over the centuries, the chance that we will discover that we are all somehow related should not come as any great shock. Our gene pool was not all that great to begin with.
Here is some information that may be of some help to you. I have yet to post it so it will be new.
My GG-Grandfather was Bernad Friedman who married Rachael Hamburger producing my G-Grandfather Jacob Friedman. He married Jennie Neuwirth. She was the daughter of Wolf Neuwirth and Rivka (Fredia Wald) Friedman. They produced my Grandfather, William (Bernard) Friedman, my father, Lewis Friedman and then myself. There were lots of aunts and uncles as well.
Would it be possible for me to view your Friedman web site or possibly get a copy of your Friedman information to view? If you want to e-mail me my address is:
[email protected]
Thank you,
Mika'el
