DR. FRIEDLINE, Somerset, PA, 1880-1910
I am trying to help my cousin with his mother's and grandmother's roots. Both were born in Somerset County, PA. His grandmother's name was Nancy PRITTS, born 9 Feb 1880, Somerset, Somerset County, PA. He does not know who her parents or siblings were. In searching the 1880 Census, PA, Somerset County, Somerset Twp, I found Peter(46) and Mary(45) Pritts with children: Elmer 18, Lizzie 17, Ross E. 15, Frank 12, Sade(?) B. 11, Sarah 8, Maima C. 6, Samuel J. 5, John 2 and Nannie G. 4/12. The last child, Nannie G., fits the Nancy Pritts I'm looking for. When she was alive Nancy Pritts told us stories about her father (or grandfather) fighting in the Civil War for Pennsylvania. I found a Peter Pritts who served in Co. G of the 61st Pennsylvania Infantry in the Civil War Pension Index. It also said he had a wife named Mary. In the 1900 Census, PA, Somerset County, Somerset Twp, I found Mary(64, b. July, 1855) and Nannie (20, b. Feb., 1880) Pritts as boarders with William and Elizabeth Saylor. One other bit of information is that when Nancy Pritts died she gave her mother's maiden name as FRANK. Is my Nancy Pritts the Nannie Pritts, daughter of Peter and Mary Pritts? Was the Mary, listed above as the wife of Peter Pritts, a Frank before she married Peter? Does anyone know anything about this Pritts family? Is there another Pritts family that might fit my Nancy Pritts?
Family tradition has it that Nancy Pritts married (probably between 1900 and 1905) a doctor whose last name was FRIEDLINE. We don't know Friedline's first name. It was said that he died not long after their marriage. However, they did have one child, my cousin's mother, Priscilla. She was born 3 Sep 1904-1907. No, the birth did not take 3 years! It's that Priscilla would never tell us how old she was. Her death certificate said her birth was in 1907 but the family thinks it's closer to 1904 or 1905. Does anyone know who this Friedline might be? Are there marriage and birth records for 1900-1910 in Somerset County, PA?
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me on the PRITTS or FRIEDLINE families. I can't think of a better Christmas present for my cousin than if I could present him with his mother's family roots.
Kindest regards,
Chuck Henrikson
