Dear Helene, I am doing research on the same family. It is very difficult to obtain early New York records, but the following information about William Henry Friedline appears in his older brother Conrad's Civil War papers. Conrad, b. 1847 in New York, probably Erie County, was a private in Co. B, 100th regiment of the N.Y. infantry. He died 15 May 1864 in Morris Island, South Carolina of "chronic dysentery" at the age of 17. His mother, Elizabeth L. Friedline collected his pension. Your ancestor, William is listed on the pension papers of his brother because he is under the age of 16. William Henry Friedline was born September 20, 1860 probably in Akron, New York. It might be worth your while to obtain Conrad's civil war papers from the New York Archive. Other siblings: Sarah E. b. 2 June 1848 NY; Peter b. 18 December 1849 NY; Susanna b. 5 November 1851 NY; Nancy b. 14 December 1853 NY; Catherine b. 15 April 1856 NY; Mary C. b. 6 June 1858 NY; William H. b. 20 September 1860 NY; Jacob b. 31 January 1863 NY. Others not mentioned because they were adults: Sally b. 1832 NY; Elizabeth b. 1827 PA Hope this helps. KIM
