A number of Friedleys are buried at the Fairdale (Sappenfield) Cemetery in Harrison County, Ind., near my Arnold ancestors. The cemetery is along SR64 between Ramsey and Depauw and shouldn't be confused with the Sappenfield Graveyard located a few miles away near Bradford.
Here is what my survey party recorded during a visit to the Fairdale (Sappenfield) Cemetery on 16 Apr 2004:
--Sarah Friedley died 10-15-1853, 33yrs 2mo 1da.
--Jacob son of JM & C Friedley born 4-23-1842 died 11-15-1850.
George W consort of Nancy C Friedley born 11-13-1825 died 12-28-1853.
(The next headstone reads "Nancy C wife of F Henriott born 4-5-1832 died 3-20-1887." I don't know whether she is a Friedley. A newspaper article that Jen Breshears recently posted on her harrisoncountygenealogy.com site said Henriott was charged with his wife's murder! Felician Henriott platted Depauw in 1884.)
--Savanah F dau of HH & S Friedley born 12-12-1858 died 10-30-1861 2y 10m 18d.
I didn't see these headstones myself, but I believe the information above to be accurate, given the difficulties of reading old headstones. Earlier surveys of this cemetery may show that other Friedleys were buried there.
A David Arnold proved the age of a John Friedley or Friedly to marry a Cynthia Arnold, presumed to be David's dau, on 27 Feb 1839 in Harrison County. The marriage took place 28 Feb 1839. Sources: Marriage Affidavit Book, Harrison Co., Ind., court house, transcribed by Marsha Belty; and Indiana Marriages Through 1850, Indiana State Library.
I believe this Cynthia Arnold (1821-1907) was a dau of David Arnold (1798-1861), my gg uncle. This David Arnold and other members of his family are buried in the row adjacent to the Friedleys at the Fairdale (Sappenfield) Cemetery.
I hope this is useful.
