Hi Phil

I hope you can help me figure out a conundrum. I have incomplete copies of a book called "The German Churches of Western Pennsylvania by Paul Ruff". A Jacob and Elizabeth Friedleh (Spelled Friedle,Friedleh,Friedlein)are listed several times -

1.) Child: Henrich Friedle, born 4 July 1787 - Parents: Jacob & Elisabetha Friedle - Sponsors: Conrad Meyer & Maria Gergan

2.)Child: Anna Barbara Friedlein, born 17 Nov 1793 - Parents: Jacob and Anna Elisabetha Friedlein - Sponsors: Johan Petter & Anna Barbara Eisenmann.

* Here is the twist. Back in March of 1779 a Anna Barbara Eisenmann (I am assuming she is the same wife of Johan Petter Eisenmann) is the soul sponsor for an illigitimate girl named Anna Margaretha Meyer. This Anna Margaretha Meyer's mother is Anna Elisabeth Meyer.

My guess is that the single mother, Anna Elisabeth Meyer later married Jacob Freidleh and explains why Anna Barbara Eisenmann and her husband are sponsors for their child. Anna Barbara Eisenmann is the second wife of Peter Eisenmann. I am sucspicious that she, Anna Barbar Eisenmann, is the mother of Anna Elisabeth Meyer and that Anna Barbara's first marriage was to a Meyer.

The above Henrich Friedle's sponsor, Conrad Meyer, is a distant relative of mine ( distant grandfather's brother). His name was originally spelled Moyer. If my theory holds true, he could be Anna Elisabeth's brother.

There are more connections then I can list here and I do not have a comprohensive listing of all the Friedleh's in the books (books consist of 4 volumes and are each quite large). I happened to find from what I copied these few references to the friedleh's.

The only Jacob and Elisabeth Friedleys (various spellings included) I could find anywhere on the Internet are the ones mentioned in the message you replied to. Jacob is listed as being born in Westmoreland, and I have seen elsewhere the same birthdate for Henry Friedley of December 08, 1784 with a birth place in Westmoreland not Lancaster as was listed. There must be some confusion over the birthplace?

I know the birth date of Henry Friedley doesn't match up, but Anna Barbara Friedlein's would seem to fit.

I just discovered another Moyer connection for a second couple's child that Peter and Anna Barbara Eisenman sponsored - William and Anna Barbara VanDyke. William's wife Anna Barbara's maiden name is Moyer.

Peter and Ann Barbara Eisenman also sponsored 2 of my Distant grandparent's children - Adam and Elisabeth Moyer. Adam is Conrad Moyer's brother that I mentioned earlier in this message.

Hope to hear from you. Hope there is a connection to your family tree.

bye
Roger Miller
