Virgil Fridley obituary -- Keokuk County, Iowa, 1972
KESWICK -- Virgil H. Fridley, 75, died Thursday morning at Keokuk County Hospital in Sigourney, following an extended illness.
He was born June 14, 1896, in Scott County, the son of H.H. and Anna Churkey Fridley.He was married in Keswick Aug. 17, 1919, to Anna Winegarden.They farmed the area and he was employed as a carpenter and painter.He served on the Keswick Town Council and as mayor, and was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his widow, at the Manor House in Sigourney; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne Edmundson of Fairfax, and Mrs. Bernard Volz of Grainger, and eight grandchildren.
Two brothers, Lincoln and Jacob, and a sister, Luella, preceded him in death.
The service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Keswick United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Roy K. Hoover.Burial will be in Sorden Cemetery.
The body is at Powell Funeral Home in South English.
