Pam, Kari:

The correct German pronunciation of Freidel conforms to the English "Fry-del" with the emphasis placed on the first syllable. The German "ei" and "ai" is always pronounced as a long "i" or like the English "by". A word pronounced in German with our long "a" sound (Pam's example cradle) would be spelled simply with an "e". Be careful when trying to transpose pronunciations to make name connections.
