Apparently our surname has its origin in Spain (although there are also many Frías in Portugal).
I live in Galicia (a northwestern region of Spaín) and apart from my direct family there are only a few Frías here.
My great grandfather (Manuel Frías) went to America and established in New York around a century and a half ago. Unfortunatly, I don´t know his exact origin but he was Spanish, I think that from somewhere in the north of Spain.
My grandfather (Joaquín Frías) also lived in the States when he was young.
Anyway, I have heard from my uncles that live in Andalusia (south of Spain) that there are many Frías there too.
