My wife is a Frias and her grandfather, Anacleto Frias, was born in Huaniqueo, Michoacan, Mexico. I have been able to establish the family line back to the late 1700's with church records, but have not come across a Patricio in her family. There were many Frias' in those records that I did not record as they were apparently not part of her family. You will need to know what area of Michoacan as well as the fact that his name listed in any church records may be listed as "Jose Patricio Frias". LDS has a good collection of the church records of Michoacan on microfilm.
