Looking info on George Washington Friar (b.1829)

I am looking to connect George Washington Friar with any Friars in Claiborne County Tennessee or surrounding areas. He was my great-grandfather and I know he fought for the Union Army in Civil War. He came to norhtwest Alabama after the war with a friend. I don't know if he left family in Tennessee or not. He was about 67 years old when my grandfather was born so my grandfather didn't remember much about him. He was in the 1st Tennessee Cal. in the Civil War. I am just looking for any info. Thanks.
