Looking for info on the husband of Violet Barry
Choate. Violet was born in 1801 in York County,
South Carolina, allegedly to William Choate
1766-1844 and Rachael Simril 1772-1850. She died
probably without children of her marriage. One
researcher gives her husband's name as "David Frey"
and another as "Philip Fry". I can find no record
of either a David or a Philip in York Co., SC.
Violet is buried in Ebenezer Presbyterian (now A.R.P.)
Church cemetery, Rock Hill, S.C.

In the 22nd year of her age.
Naked as from the earth I came
And crept to life at first,
I to the earth return again
And mingle with my dust.
She is buried next to her alleged
sister Cynthia Douglass (Choate)
Mellon 1799-1824. Neither alleged
daughter is mentioned in the estate
papers of their alleged father William
Choate and understandably so. Choate
wrote his will in 1830 and no children
are known for either of these women.
Choate's estate papers contain his will
and nothing else. Neither of these graves
are near the grave of William Choate who
died in 1844.
