Good PM LE; On your post of Sep 17-07 you asked if anyone had a copy of the will of Valentine FREY who died 14 Apr 1814 in Stokes Co, NC.Here is a copy of the will I have?
I also have a lot more info concerning the FREY family. Where do you fit in the FREY tree? & where do you live?Also due to a time problem I have, I want to get back to you later about a puzzling question I have concerning the 3 valentine's I have.Redneck Joe in AZ
The will of J. Valentine FREY
In the name of GOD Amen, J. Valentine FREY (Jr) being week in body but of sound mind and perfect memory blessed be GOD, do make this my last will and testament in the manner and form following.
All my plantation whereon I live containing two hundred acres of land, with all the improvements I give to my beloved wife CATHERINA during her natural life and after her decease the same shall be sold at public sale by my executors, herein after named and by them or either of them conveyed (or by the survivor of them) the highest bidder on payment of sufficient security given My Negro wench KATY I likewise give to my said wife during her natural life, one years provision of grain and meat for her and for her beasts and give to her likewise forever one horse, saddle & bridle, two cows, ten hogs, two ploughs, two beds and furniture, ten pewter plates and spoons, ten knives and forks, two pewter dishes, twotables, one chest, one pot, one oven and one pair of geers. The rest and residue of my estate both real and personal it is my will shall be sold at public sale & the proceeds equally divided among my children, JOHN, JACOB, --PETER, --ADAM, --MICHAEL, --and the children of my deceased daughter MARY, --CHRISTIAN, --HENRY, --CATHERINE wife of LEWIS MARTEN, --VALENTINE, --ABRAHAM, --SARAH wife of MICHAEL FRY, and JOSEPH, share and share alike to them their heirs and assign for ever, first deducting from the share of my son JACOB & PETER the sum of one hundred dollars, they having each received that much in advance. Twenty five dollars which I gave to my wife, is as to make each child excepting as above share equally All of the residue of my estate after my wife decease I desire to be sold and the proceeds divided among my above named children and grandchildren, share and share alike, (that is the grandchildren to take the share of their parents) to be theirs forever
Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my two sons ADAM FRY, and VALENTINE FRY or the survivor of them executors of this my last will and testament with authority to claim out of all Monies received and paid over to the legatees four %for their troubles and I do hereby revoke and annul all former wills by me made, allowing that they to be voided as my last will & testament.
