I still don't know who Jane's parents were (there are a few possibilities in the IGI) I think she may have had a sister Isabella. [Jane was b at Wishaw or Old Monkland (re census)around 1822.]
Not only did Jane (and husband James LEGGAT) have a daughter Isabella, they also appear to have had living with them a Mary DEANS from at least age 4 on.
Mary Frew DEANS, born around 1836 at Hamilton LNK, was the daughter of Isabella Frew and her husband William DEANS (m 1834)
The following are the children of James and Jane nee FREW:
James LEGGAT b ~1841
Isabella LEGGAT b ~ 1843
John LEGGAT b~ 1850
Janet LEGGAT b~ 1855
Charlotte LEGGAT b~ 1859
Would love to know who Jane's parent were and if Isabella was in fact her sister - I don't doubt she was related in some way!
