The name Frew is Scottish- it is a family name for the Fraser clan. The Frews come from a small mountainous region in north central Scotland... I found the info in a book called "Tartans their art and history" by Ann Sutton and Richard Carr. It is copyrighted 1984, so may be hard to come by.
