Edward R. Miller, 88, of rural Filley, died at the Gold Crest Retirement
Center in Adams on May 3, 2006. He was born August 31, 1917, at rural
Pickrell, and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. He
attended Remmer's Country School. Edward married Frances Esther Frerichs on
January 1, 1939, at Zion Lutheran Church, and they lived and farmed near
Filley. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, was a
past member of the Farmers Union, and served on the Sunny Slope School Board
for 12 years. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren, hunting, fishing,
gardening and bird watching.

Survivors include one daughter, Dianna Andrew and husband Wallace of Filley;
one son, Larry Miller and wife Shirleen of Holmesville; son-in-law, Aldean
Lienemann of Lincoln; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; two
sisters-in-law, Evalena Lenners and her husband John of Beatrice and Teda
Miller of Beatrice; one brother-in-law, Harvey Frerichs of Lincoln. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Delia Miller; his wife, Frances
Esther Miller, who died on September 3, 2003; a daughter, Barbara Lienemann,
who died on August 7, 1997; three brothers, Allen "Ollie" Miller, Emil
Miller and Andrew Miller; and four sisters, Mary Wallman, Emma Parde, Grace
Schoneweis and LaVerna Frerichs.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2006, at the
Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell, with Pastor John Sievers
officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell.
A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 Saturday in the basement of
the church. Memorials to Zion Lutheran Cemetery with Elmer and Vivian
Schuster in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home, 19th
and Garfield streets, Beatrice, until 9 p.m. Friday, and then on Saturday at
the church one hour preceding the services. A guest book for signatures and
messages of condolence is available online at: .
