I don't know the time frame for your William Smith French, but I believe I have an ancestor named Alvin Smith French, b. 10/10/1782 in Fairfield Co, CT, d. 4/14/1858, Brighton, Monroe Co., NY. His wife was Nancy Dennis, b. 11/18/1787 in Norwich, New London Co., CT, d. 8/15/1827 in Brighton, Monroe, NY.
I'm following his line forward to Amos Willard French, and backward to Ebenezer French b. 11/10/1760 in East Guilford, New Haven Co., CT, d. 9/13/1848 in E. Bloomfield, Ontario Co., NY, married to Lucy Smith of East Guilford, New Haven, CT.
Any help will be appreciated.
