Need to make contact with a descendant of John C. French and his wife Sarah. He was born about 1791 in South Carolina and she about 1800 in NC. The couple had children: William born 1828 AL, Joshia D. born 1830 AL, Sarah bron 1833 in AL, Margaretta/e M. born 20 Jan 1835 in AL, KY or MO, and Martha 1840 with birth state not shown. John C. and his wife Sarah are shown with the three younger girls on the Dekalb 1850 census. John French is found on the 1860 census with a wife Grace Musgrove French which indicates that the first wife Sarah died between 1850 census and the marriage record of John and Grace in 1856 there in Dekalb, AL. The son William French married about 1848 and is shown with wife Elizabeth C. and just born son, James D. French on the Dekalb 1850 census. I cannot trace William past that 1850 census at all. I find no marriage record in Dekalb to give a surname for the wife Elizabeth C. I can trace William's son James D. French as married to Martha Ellen Baker and living most of his adult life in OK. They show up on the 1880 census in Cooke Co., TX and them moved on into OK after that. He and wife are found in New Mexico in 1910 census. James D. French had a daughter Stellen who married William Wolf in OK and he had a son William D. French who married Williams Wolf's sister Ollie May Wolf. These two couples raised their families in the Atoka, Johnston, Coal counties area of OK. As you see I do not know where these people were between 1850-1880. The son Josiah is living with his older brother William for the 1850 census. Perhaps Josiah French is found in KY for 1870 but no proof that the Josiah found there is this Josiah. I can trace Margarette French as married to Jacob C. Gipson in AL but know nothing else about her family. If you can help me with this family please do so. dbton@yahoo.com Notify Administrator about this message?
