Dear French Families,
I am a descendant of 18th Century Family whose surname is French. The earliest certain ancestor is Daniel French (abt 1771- 1849) and his wife Sarah Dix, who lived at Langley in Oxfordshire. Their son John French(abt 1800-1873) & Sarah Smith lived in North Leigh having a son Daniel French who is my great great great Grandfather who came to Tasmania with his wife Harriet Beames in 1856. I am aware that this couple's son James French returned to Oxforshire with the Latrobe Federal Band in the late 1800s and was believed to have made contact and was taught while there by some of his relatives who still lived in Oxfordshire.
I would dearly love to make contact with any French living descendant, Beames or Smith/ Pratley descendant.
I would be extremely grateful for any help or assistance you may be able to glean.
