My great grandparents Jose and Isabel (Borges) Freitas were both born on Santa Maria, Azores around 1898. They emigrated to the U.S. when they were sixteen, married in Taunton, MA in 1917, and settled shortly thereafter in West Bridgewater, MA where they spent the rest of their lives. I'd like to know more about their parents. My grandmother, having spent her life in Massachusetts, never knew them (her grandparents that is). Jose's parents were Joaquim Freitas and Maria Cuhna. Isabel's were Fermino Coehlo and Luiza Soares. I'd love to hear from anyone with connections to these late nineteenth century Santa Maria families. Thanks, Mike.
