My great grandmother was Maria C. Freitas born in 1877 in the Azores. She married a man known in the USA as Joseph Goularte Silva. (he too was from the Azores and was born in 1875. I too am said to have family in the Santa Cruz area. Someone I thought it was suppose to have been a sister of my grandmother, either was a twin, or had twins, also I thought to have heard that some of them had 16 kids? Also names that may have lived in the area were Jacintho, Jacintha, and some may have changed their last name to Jason, Freitas, Silva, da Silva, Silveira, Goulart, and Goularte, Bettencourt, and so on. Does this sound familiar?

family in Monterey, Cayucos, Santa Cruz, San Jose, Los Banos, Nipomo, Arroyo Grande, Santa Maria, and also in the valley in the Fresno area. Some also in the San Francisco or bay area, Oakland - my grandmother had a sister who lived there.
