Joseph (Joiquin) Freitas sent back to the azores and married his first cousin Margaret Nunes after having her brought here to California. They had 14 children my grandmother was the 7th. From what I have been told he had 7 brothers who also came here and settled. Each having more children then my g-grands did. Joseph was killed in Aptos when he was run over by a horse and buggy in 1920. Some of his brother's changed the spelling of their name to "Fratis", "Frateas" and "Fretas". I am looking for any information about Josephs linage back to the Azores and also Margaret's as well. I do know that her mother's name was Mary but that was all. Margaret was fair, light eyed and had golden brown hair. Grandmother always said we were decended from the viking "Eric" somehow but not sure how. If you have any info that can shead light on this Please contact me.
Thank you
Jo
