There are a lot of Freires in the Coruņa area, only in the phone book some 1300. In fact, this is the homeland of Freire surname, and the area between Betanzos and Ferrol was known in th Middle Ages as the "Mariņas dos Freires" (Sealands of the Freire).

My family is from Cela (Irixoa), some 5 km. away from Ambroa, but I presently live in Santiago. Otero is also a very common surname in the area, my father for example is Francisco Freire Otero.

Hope to be of some help.
