Good Morning Pat;
As you have nodoubt noted in my two most recent email responses, that in my enthusiasm to understand where names and people fit into the family history, I have repeatedly made an error in identifying the relationship with Horace and Hannah Freestone, in fact my comments jumping them an entire generation.

I should have re:read the emails to you before hitting the "send button", as it became abundantly clear upon re:reading.

The truth is that I have confused both myself, and probably others in the process, by stating that Horace Freestone and Hannah were my Brother David and my "Great-Great Grandparents",...when in fact,... they are our "Great- Grandparents".....my Father's Grandparents..!

The same will then apply to you (which you had clearly stated at one point and I somehow seemed to miss the significance of) that Horace (senior) was your Great-Grandfather, your Mother's Grandfather, as she was the daughter of Harry, son of Horace.

The same principle would then apply as well to Horace John Freestone in New Zealand as he too would have Horace(senior) as a Great-Grandfather. You probably noted in my email yesterday that I again inadvertently suggested that Horace (senior) would have been the "Great-Great-Grandfather of Horace John....

Apologies to all for any confusion created....now I think that I have it all straight in my mind and hopefully we are all now on the same page.....

Our Great-Great Grandfather would have been Thomas Freestone, the gardner, who would have been Horace Freestone's Father (Horace Freestone according to the information that we have was born in Bangor,England, in March, 1819).

To your knowledge Pat, has anyone researched further back as to whether or not Horace had other siblings ? What was the ancestry of Horace's Father, Thomas Freestone, and family, as to when and where was Thomas born ? Also,interested in knowing who Horace's Mother was (her Maiden name), the wife of Thomas Freestone.

As is the case, one question always leads to another. At least with the roots of the family being in England, it might make it somewhat easier to delve into the history through Church recordings of births, deaths and marriages.

As this is all so new to us, we are anxious to research the roots of the family tree as far back as possible and to benefit from the various branches of the tree which have spread to other couontries over the centuries...!

As a side note, I was trying to figure out our various ages as you had indicated that Horace John Freestone was born in New Zealand in 1942. I was born in 1946 and Brother David in 1948, so we must all be of the same "vintage",...in our early to late 60's.

In re:reading your note of January 29th,...the other thing that struck me was that you had mentioned that Horace John Freestone was born in New Zealnad in 1942. You then mentioned that, and I am quoting, "Horace (NZ), his Father was the eldest son of Horace F and was born in 1920 in Auckland. He was Horace Kewley Freestone".

From that I concluded that Horace John's Father must then be the Horace Kewley Freestone, born in 1920, that you referred to.

Apparently Horace & Hannah's eldest son was Thomas Ivison Freestone, born, November 5th, 1855, who then had a son, who would have been the Father of Horace Kewley Freestone, born in 1920. As you had indicated the lineage, then Horace Kewley's Father must have been a fairly elderly man as he must have been approximatley 65 years of age when he fathered Horace Kewley Freestone. As you have explained it, then Thomas Ivison Freestone would be Horace John Freestone's Grandfather.

I wondered Pat if you might have an email address for Horace John Freestone in New Zealand, so these last several email exchanges could be forwarded to him for his analysis and input...? You might even know if he follows messages relayed through this genealogy format ?

As always,....looking forward to benefiting from any information in the form of clarification that you might be able to share.

Thank you again for your invaluable input as I am thoroughly enjoying trying to piece the family tree together.

Brian
