All I know of him is scribble on an envelope which contained photographs of a Nelson Tea Caddy, said to have been the property of the writer's Great Grandfather John Browne RN. The photographs were taken at GFD's wedding (circa 1920?) which was possibly in Bakewell, Derbyshire where at least two of Ada's (see below) Aunts were married (1869 and 1876).
The writer in question was my maiden Aunt Ada Marguerita ROUND (1876-1976 in her hundreth year)
My surmise is that GHD Freer was a child of one of Ada's aunts or neices but I am at a loss - I could get the bc - but am hoping this approach will yield some results! The "Dudley" may refer back to ROUND family origins in Staffordsire/Worcestershire area, but then again, it may not.
