I first posted to this forum on 10/19/2002 looking for the parents of John G(Glen(N)Freeman who married Martha Jane Durham in Greene County, Georgia, October 1852. Since that time I have a new e-mail address and a new 911 address. See below. I am still need parents for my John G. Freeman b. c. 1829-30 d.c. 1858. I think his mother might have been Ann H. Freeman, daughter of Elijah Evans died 1838 with a will in Taliaferro County, Georgia. I think that she fits the marriage of William Freeman to Nancy Evans in Wilkes County, Georgia, in 1824. A William Freeman is a near neighbor of the Evans in the 605-606 GMD of Taliaferro County in 1827-1830, missing by 1840. Littleberry Freeman married Elvira Porter there in 1835 and is on the 1840 census. Littleberry is in neighboring Greene County in 1850 and 1860 near the Durhams and Bethesda Baptist Church/Union Point Community. Some Evans connections were members, too! On this forum 2004/2005 there was a discussion about Elijah Freeman b.c. 1825 Georgia on the 1860 census of Tallapossa County, Alabama. He was definitely the son of Nancy Ann H. Evans and William Freeman above. However, I am not sure of the connection to Littleberry Freeman or my John G. Freeman. The time and place are right! On the 1850 Taliaferro County, Georgia, Census, House #205, page 329, Elijah L. Freeman age 25 is living with Lemuel and Martha Evans Dawsey/Dossey(other sp.),his aunt and uncle, both b.c. 1807 and their five children. In the household is a Judith Stewart age 62. This is probably the unmarried sister from the 1838 will. No mariage found. The sister, Martha Evans m. 1837 Taliaferro County Lemuel Dovey(sp.). Some of the early marriages never got recorded. On the 1860 Tallapoosa County, Alabama, Page 205, House #78/75 Jeremiah Evans age 72 is living with his probable nephew, Elijah Freeman and Elijah's young wife and two children. I don't have an index for 1850. Jeremiah Evans probably married a daughter of John Booles/Bowles, Sr. d.c.1823 in Greene County, Georgia. Her given name is unknown unless she is still living in Alabama in the 1850 census. A Jeremiah Evans and a Benjamin Ray were listed as receiving items from this estate. Evans were closely associated with Rays in Taliaferro and Wilkes County, Georgia. Jackson Booles/Bowles who was the maternal grandfather of Martha Jane Durham first listed above was a son of John Booles, Sr. Hence, Jeremiah Evans, might have been Martha Jane Durham's great uncle by marriage. Any ideas on this family would be appreciated such as was this a first or a second marriage for William Freeman? His parents? Did he die in Taliaferro County or did he move elsewhere? Can anyone identify the Susan Freeman and Nancy Freeman both age 70 on the 1860 Tallapossa County, Alabama, census? Who was Martha Freeman age 40? Which Freemans did they marry???
