There is a lot of confusion in the early Freeman records of the various Nathaniels and Sylvanuses. The problems are not all with Frederick Freeman's "Freeman Genealogy", but they do show that this book can't be relied upon as the only source. There are errors and omissions and a lack of source documentation.
Edmund Freeman and Kezia Pressbury had
- Silvanus who m. Mary Dunham
- Nathaniel who m. Martha Dunham
Prence Freeman and Mary Doane had
- Nathaniel (9 Mar 1712/13), who married Martha Brown in ca. 1737.
The Freeman Genealogy has his birth, but not his marriage or children. Two other sources, Landmarks of Plymouth and the Brainerd Genealogy reported that he married Martha Dunham. This is refuted in Homer Worthington Brainard's article "Prence Freeman of East Hamton, Connecticut," which appeared in two segments in The American Genealogist, v. 17, 1940, pp. 87-95, 165-173.
Nathaniel (b. 1712/13) who m. Martha Brown then had
- Sylvanus (16 Apr 1740) who m. Leah Brainerd; and
- Nathaniel (8 Nov 1751)

He didn't. Sometime after 1800, according to Brainard, he removed to Butternuts, Otsego, New York, where he died. I have not found the date of his death, but the location comes from Brainard's article mentioned above.

Yes, the two Sylvanuses in Chatham in 1790 were the one mentioned above and his son, who married Huldah Goff. Various sources put the marriage of the latter couple at Chatham, Middle Haddam, and Wethersfield.

Yes. He was recorded as living in Mansfield, CT on 25 April 1777, but on 25 August 1777 his brothers and sisters, Elisha, Elizabeth, Sarah, Kezia, Temperance, and Mary, deeded their interests in a plot of land in Hanover, NH to him in return for his caring for their mother, Mary, in her old age. He was also in Norwich, VT and Lyme, NH, where he died about 1801.

I know that the Freeman Genealogy says this on p. 138, but on p. 77, Frederick Freeman says, under Nathaniel Freeman who m. Martha Dunham:
"Mr. Moulton, to whom we are indebted for memoranda of the issue of both Nathaniel and Sylvanus, says the latter (note, the latter, i.e. Sylvanus) "left two sons, both of whom removed to Butternuts, N.Y." But in the entry just above, which covers Sylvanus, he correctly indicates that Sylvanus's two sons, Elisha and Silvanus, both went to Vermont. All of the information I have shows that they stayed put in the VT/NH area. Therefore I think the informant, Mr. Moulton, was confusing his Sylvanuses when he said that they went to Butternuts, NY.

I t gets worse. Silvanus Freeman (b. 1716) is listed on p. 77 with only a few of his children; more are listed under the heading for Prince Freeman (b. 1748) on p. 133. On p. 134, the Freeman Genealogy says that this Prince Freeman was born in 1757, impossible as his first daughter, Kezia, was born in 1756. In fact all three children listed for Prince Freeman on p. 133 (Kezia, Sylvanue, and "daughter" (whose name was Sarah) were the children, not of Prince, but of Silvanus Freeman (b. 1716) and Mary Dunham.

No. As mentioned above, Prince Freeman's Nathaniel married Martha Brown.
