Greetings Karel, (and Linda, Tammy, Jean, Kay and all the other Freeloves out there!)
I am a gr gr granddaughter of John Willard FREELOVE and Cybelia HART.
Thanks to Linda Arnold I have made the connection to Bradford Co, PA.
I can add a couple things about John Willard FREELOVE:
He died 01 MAY 1884 in Summit,Waukesha Co, WI
His age in the 1860,1870, and 1880 WI census would all be more consistent with a birthyear ca 1816 rather than 1806.
A brief notice of his death in the local (Oconomowoc WI) newspaper was slim on details but described him as "about 60" in 1884. While I can see a man of 68 (b. 1816)possibly described as about 60, I doubt anyone would mistake him for 60 if he was really 78 (b. 1806).
A birthyear of 1816 makes him a possibility for the household of John FREELOVE of Castleton, Rutland, VT or the household of Benjamin FREELOVE of Pittsford, Rutland, VT in the 1820 census as both households had at least one male in the "to 10" category.
Based on her extensive research Linda is certain that John W. FREELOVE of Rochester, Racine, WI in 1860 census is the same man as John FREELOVE of the 1850 Troy, Bradford, PA census. I would be interested in any family lore of the Bradford PA branch concerning his "first" family and their descendants. Are there any other details about his sale of land there to Larnard FREELOVE? Are you descended from Larnard? What clues make you think that John Willard and Larnard are brothers?
Thanks!
