Glad to meet you Cousin Tammy! Phebe A. FREELOVE was born c1833 New York and was daughter of Joseph FREELOVE and his wife, Eleanor GROVE or GRAVE. Joseph & family are listed first in 1840 Census of New York in town of Barre, Orleans County: Joseph FREELOVE, Head of Household 1 male under 5 yrs. (b. 1835-40) 1 male 30-40 yrs. (b. 1800-1810) 1850 Census of New York, finds the family in Oakfield, Genesee Co., New York, p.304: Joseph FREELOVE age 39 b. N.Y. Farmer Eleanor, age 38 b. N.Y. Phebe A., age 17 b. N.Y. Nancy I. Henry W., age 2 b. N.Y. Mathew SNYDER, age 26 b. France Farm Laborer. By 1860 Census the family had gone to Champaigne Co., IL P.O. Mahonet and are found on the census at 344/322. (Phebe was already married and gone from the household.) 1880 Census Joseph and Eleanor FREELOVE are listed in the household of their son, C.W. FREELOVE in Peach Orchard twp., Ford Co., IL Sheet 14, Line 12. By 1885, Joseph and Eleanor FREELOVE moved to Cloud Co., KS where they are listed in the State Census of Kansas in Shirley twp., Cloud Co. (P.O. Ames) in the household of son, C.W. FREELOVE & family. Both Joseph and Eleanor FREELOVE died in Cloud Co., KS and I have copies of their obituaries. They are my grandfather's uncle and aunt...more to the point...she was my grandfather's Great "Aunt Ellner" as he called her. Although the census records say he was born in New York...his obituary says he was born in Vermont which I believe is correct. This would put your Joseph FREELOVE being a brother to my great great grandfather, Chandler FREELOVE b. 1814 VT. I will be extremely happy to work with you.
