I think it highly unlikely that the Dr. James Freeland, born in Hopkinton, MA in 1743, is the same Dr. James Freeland found in SC in 1788.My mother is a direct descendant of the former.In 1773 he built a home in Sutton, MA (now a part of Millbury, MA) which still stands today.He died in 1792 and is buried beside his wife, Mehetable (Mellen), in a cemetery not far from his home.
He had four daughters and one son.All of the daughters married and moved to Maine.The son remained in Sutton and raised his family there.
