Rebecca, b. ca. 1754, Calvert, MD to Rob and Sarah; m. Isaac Bowen??
Benjamin Freeland Bowen was born August 19, 1824 in Belmont County, Ohio to Benjamin and Eunice (Bowen) Bowen.(Yes, Ben and Eunice were distant cousins, not first cousins or even second cousins, but some degree).
Benjamin Bowen was born September 17, 1788 in Calvert County, Maryland to Isaac and Rebecca (maiden name unknown) Bowen.
In the 1810 census for Calvert County, Isaac Bowen had the following statistics:2-2-2-1-0 for males and 4-1-0-0-1 for females.Because Rebecca was listed as over 45 (that is, born before 1755), I am guessing that Isaac was only slightly younger and so possibly about 44 (so born about 1756).
I am working on a THEORY that Rebecca, Isaac's wife, was born Rebecca Freeland (and that her son Benjamin gave his son Benjamin "Freeland" for a middle name because that was Rebecca's maiden name).
There was a Rebecca Freeland born about 1754 in Calvert County to Robert Freeland and his second wife, Sarah (Frisby) Freeland, as evidenced by his Will, written November 14, 1756 and probated February 7, 1757.
On the Latter Day Saints website (www.familysearch.org), in the Pedigree Resource Files, there are submissions that claim that this Rebecca Freeland married an Edward Wilson, but there is, of course, no supporting documentation or citation of sources for evidence.I believe the LDS PRFs are WRONG in this case.
Does anyone have any information, pro or con, that relates to either Rebecca, wife of Isaac Bowen, OR Rebecca Freeland, daughter of Robert and Sarah??I think they are one and the same, but more evidence would help. Please contact me directly at [email protected].
