There is historical information that the territory in Sweden later renamed had some Fredinshgult variation. However, the general linguist would assume the name Fredin loosely translated means "with peace" from a modern perspective.
I'm sure someone could do historical research on the formation of "Fred" in peace and where this came from. But, that's a little too deep for this question. My family thought it came from a territory too, but you can talk to any Swede and get this translation information.
