I believe I have a Christian Frech in my family.Although my family spells its name "Frick", there are several indications that it may have been "Frech" in the past.As for Christian, my g-grandfather was Gustav Frick. His father is said to have beem named Christian, and was said to have died between 1888 and 1900.
I have a copy of what appears to be a microfiche copy of the Citizenship Record for my Christian Frick. It indicates his naturalization took place in the County of Philadelphia, September 25, 1888.
"Be it remembered, that, at the Court of Common Pleas No. 4 for the County of Philadelphia, held at Philadelphia, in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in the United States of America, on the 25th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, Christian Frech, a Native of Germany, exhibited a petition praying to be admitted to become a Citizen of the United States, and it appearing to the said Court that he had declared an oath, before the Prothonotary of the Court of Common Pleas for the County of Philadelphia, on the 29th day of September A.D.1886...."
In the Philadelphia Passenger Ship Index, August 20, 1885, list for the SS Nederland, sailing from Antwerp, arrived in Philadelphia.Line 48, Gust Frech, 16 yrs Male, Place of Birth - Walbeinger (Walblinger?), Last settlement - Germany, never in US before, printer. This is likely my g-grandfather.Surprisingly, the name was recorded here as "Frech".
Let me know if you have any connection to this.
