Rebel Sam (Samuel Frazier) born 1823, died 1907.He was married to Virgina Brown, daughter of Alfred Brown and Betsy Hensley.Rebel Sam fought for the Confederacy during the Civil war (hence the name). He served in the Virginia Infantry, Company A, 36th Regiment.
He had 11 children:
Samuel V. Frazier b. Aug 4, 1849
Clark b. 1854
Lewis b. 1857
Lovell (Love) b. 1859
Aaron (no date of birth available)
Jefferson Davis b. 1861
Elizabeth (Bettie) b. 1863
Walter b. 1866
Robert Lee (Little Bob) b. 1868
The younger children are listed as being born in Frazier's Bottom WV.
Rebel Sam's parents were Samuel Frazier(b. 1796 in Augusta Co. VA, d. 1873) and Nancy Gillespie.They were married in 1819 in Mason Co. VA. Samuel and Nancy had three children:
Samuel (Rebel Sam) b. 1823 d. 1907
Preston b. Aug.15.1830
Ellen b. ?married ?Parrish
Samuel Frazier's parrents were Samuel C.Frazier and Ann?.
They were the first Frazier family to settle in Frazier's Bottom, WV.They had a large family, but only four are identified for sure at this time:
Samuel b. 1798, Augusta Co. VA
William (Billy) b. 1800
Allen b. Nov. 20 1801 in Kanawaha Co VA
Robert (no dob - did not stay in WV, but returned to VA)
My branch of the family comes from the William (Billy) Frazier line.I have more information if you are interested.
