Hi Tim,

Simon Fraser's parents were Daniel Fraser & Nancy (Ann) Stewart.

Daniel Fraser married Nancy Stewart in Ireland, and came to Canada in 1828 or 1830.
In 1828: From Simon Fraser in 1911 census, residing with his son Wm Stewart.
In 1830: From Nancy Stewart Fraser in 1901 census, residing with her son James.
According to his son Simon Fraser, farmer, Twp of Pembroke, he perished in the snow, having wandered from home in a state of mental aberration. The family supposed he went to see his daughter. Search was delayed. Skeleton was found lately and recognized. Found at the end of August (Perth Courier, Sept 28, 1877); funeral on Monday, 3 Sept 1877. Aged 69; born Ireland. – Ontario Archives MS 935, Reel 19, No. 12,673

Nancy Stewart was born in either 1803 or 1808; she was aged 44 in the 1851/52 census and born 31 Dec 1803 in the 1901 census. Nancy was living with her son James in 1881, 1891, 1901. She died 2 Feb 1906; recorded 3 Feb 1906, aged 103, widow, born Ireland. – Ontario Archives MS 935, Reel 127, No. 26,060

The birth of Simon Fraser is confusing, ranging from 1825 to 1829. Simon Fraser was born ca 1827/28 aged 24 in the 1851/52 census or born ca 1826 in the 1911 census. Simon Fraser married Maria Tennant, and had 10 children. Simon Fraser, labourer, died 7 Aug 1919 in Pembroke, aged 94, widower, born Ireland. Parents: Daniel Fraser & Nancy Stewart. – Ontario Archives MS 935, Reel 258, No. 28,257

Maria Tennant was born in 1828 or 1830 in Lanark County, Ontario. In early 1852 Maria and Simon were living with his parents at Pembroke, while her parents were living in Wilberforce Twp, Renfrew County. Maria Fraser, labourer’s wife, died 31 July 1899 in Pembroke Twp, aged 71, born Lanark County. Wits: Simon Fraser Sr. – Ontario Archives MS 935, Reel 94, No. 23,204

Richard Fraser (1854-1943) married Catherine Anderson (1869-1922), with issue. Richard lost his hand in an accident at a saw mill and worked in a local store [had a hook or something, according to a descendant].

If you wish to find out more about the siblings of Simon Fraser, you might consider joining CFSC.
