Charles Alexander Franklin daughters and father
In 1825, Charles Alexander Franklin, originally from South Carolina, died in Gwinnett Co., GA. He was still in SC in 1820. I know from census records that he had at least 5 daughters. I haven't found their names. I have every reason to believe I know the name of one of them.
William P. Glover and his wife Mary (last name unknown - b. abt 1800 SC) left SC and moved to Gwinnett Co., GA. They were there by at least 1823 when William's sister married Benjamin Towers. In 1825, Wm and Mary had a son whom they named Charles Franklin Glover - the same year Charles Alexander Franklin died. My assumption is that they did this to honor Mary's deceased father. Also, the other known children of Charles Franklin were not in Gwinnett Co. (that I can find), so my theory is that he moved there with his daughter and her husband.
Does anyone know the names of his daughters? What do you think of my theory? Gwinnett County records burned a couple of times over the years, so there aren't any wills or deeds from that period or anything I can think of that would help me find a documented connection.
I've seen Gillis Minor Franklin mentioned many times as Charles A. Franklin's father. I can't find any Gillis mentioned in SC records except Charles' son. Charles and Edmund Franklin witnessed a will together in 1792. Charles' son, Edmond, was too young at that time, leaving only a brother or his father as options. Does anyone know where people are getting the Gillis Minor Franklin information?
I know Charles served in the Revolutionary War and that he died in prison in GA - accused of murder. Any other information anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
