I have been looking into Benjamin Franklin because of his connection to Pittsburgh and Gov Alexander Spotswood. I understand Gov Alexander Spotswood of Virginia appointed Benjamin Franklin as Postmaster General. William Franklin his son was one of the signers of the Logstown treaty in Pittsburgh. Later William Franklin was in business with William Cooper and George Crogran of Pittsburgh in a land deal just south of Albany. William Cooper was the Mayor of Albany and James Fenimore Coopers son.
Another interesting item is Benjamin Franklin hired Daniel Boone to wagon supplies from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh for an attack at Fort Duquesne by General Braddock in 1755.
James Fenimore Cooper had a friend Ned Myers who was introduced to James Fenimore Cooper by William Franklin. Since my Myers family is from Pittsburgh and I have Fenimores in the family, I am doing this research adding well documented historical facts as I go. FYI: A Col John Mitchell, a supply officer is in the mix.
