Larry Cornwell:

I live in Wisconsin so you are actually nearer the libraries I mentioned than I am. However, this fall I was at both of the libraries that I recommended. These two libraries are associated with the courthouses and the genealogical section has access to old court records.

There was a private, professional genealogy researcher searching the records for a client while was at the Burke County Library. Sorry, I did not collect his name, but I can attest that he was very efficient since he knew his way around the stacks and was finding twice the amount my wife and I was discovering. He was also familar with the region and location of lands of early settlers. His rate was $20 per hour.
