I found the following Equity Case on the Sumter Dist., SC microfilm and thought it might help someone doing South Carolina Franklin research:
Suit in Equity Court, Kershaw Courthouse, Camden District, SC, 1804:
Joshua Stone died in February 1784.His widow Mary re-married to William Bradley in 1785.William was dead by 1804.Joshua left two minor children, Samuel who turned 21 in 1804 and Susannah who married Benjamin Franklin in 1798.Mary Bradley had the following children with William Bradley:Mary, Dennis, Thomas, Elizabeth, and Sarah.Samuel Stone had left the state to move to the Western Country.Joshua died leaving land on Halfway Swamp in Sumter District, personal property, horses, cattle, negros, a large sum of money ($700), and a cask of indigo (it being in Charleston and sold for over 43 pounds).Joshua's estate was sued in Charleston. An Inventory of the Goods and Chattels of Joshua Stone was presented by the widow Mary Stone, Administrator, on June 3, 1784 at the Kershaw Court House.Eventually, the negor slaves were sold.Benjamin and Susannah Franklin were sueing Mary Bradley and her children for Susannah's part of her father's estate.
