Carol,
Reviewed the info you provided and went back through my data. Also, made a trip to the Nat'l Archives to double check the accuracy. My core data on the family is from the "Life of John Franklin" written by Franklin Gorin, son of John Gorin and Elizabeth Franklin. It's one chapter in a book called "The Times of Long Ago (Barren Co., KY)" published in 1876.
There is no mention of a daughter named Millie in any of his info. What is your source?According to Franklin Gorin, Martin was the only child who never married. He died at the White Sulphur Springs in VA where he had gone for his health in about 1806.That's all he had on Martin.
The census info I have on Sarah--both the 1810 and 1820 census lists her age in the 26-45 category. That places her birth year in the 1776 to 1784 range. I haven't definitely located her in later census records.According to Mr. Gorin, she and her three children moved to MO after her husband died but I don't know when that was.She and George Fletcher married in 1798 in Jessamine Co.
I estimated Joel's birth date based on the 1810 census in which his age was listed in the 16-26 category. From the tax lists--I assumed that John was in the over 16 to under 21 category in 1790 and Martin was in that category in 1795.Joel was still too young in 1795 since he wouldn't have been born before 1785.In fact he would have been born in KY since the last land sales John and Margaret made in Amherst Co., VA, as residents of Amherst were in 1782.Amherst Co. land sales in 1783 and 1784 had them residing in Lincoln Co.
According to the DAR Patriot Index John was born in 1740 in VA and died in 1822 in KY.I did find a listing in the 1820 census for Warren Co. for a John Franklin and wife in the 80-90 age category so that info is feasible. However, Mr. Gorin stated that John and Margaret lived with their son Joel and his children until their deaths in Barren Co.Joel died in 1817 so I had assumed they died before him. Also, I have not found any Revolutionary War pension records at the Archives for John to substantiate what is in the DAR Patriot Index.
Where can I get info to subscribe to the FFRU?I've never seen any reference to it before.
Thanks
Daisy
