I'm looking for Franklins (of Northamptonshire?) - Harry (b 1892, d.1960 or 61 in Illinois, USA) and his siblings Wilf, Richard, Elizabeth and several others. Richard lived in a house in Rugby, worked in the coal mines, died of tuberculosis in july or august 1960 there (I visited him in hospital there with my grandparents, Harry Franklin and Mary (Thomson) Franklin just before he died). He had a daughter living in Birmingham, married to an Italian who ran a hotel, and they had a 13-year-old daughter. Wilf lived in an old people's home or the like, in or around Irthlingborough in 1965, and Elizabeth? was over 90 (91-93?) and lived in a house in Irthlingborough in 1960. Harry served in WWI, was wounded in France, lived in London in the 1920's and emigrated to Canada 1928.
I have found (1881 census) a John and Mary Franklin with children Elizabeth (b 1859), Richard (b 1866) and John E (b 1872) all from Greatworth (Mary originally from King's Sutton), but these are too old. Richard or John could perhaps be the father of my Franklins, though. However, they are quite close to your Syresham Franklins.
There was also a widower John Franklin, with children Edward (b 1864) and Martha (b 1868) in Irthlingborough in 1881, but these people came from Horton, Oxford.
I would appreciate any suggestions you can give.
Best greetings,
Barbara Wall
