Notes for ANGEREAU FRANKLIN: !CENSUS: In 1850 U.S. Census (done on 10 Jul 1850), a Margaret Stephens, age 87, is listed as living with the family. Value of his property was listed as $1,800.00, and occupation was farmer. !MISC: Per Jimmy Kirk (1-5-92), Angereau had been taking part in a "log-rolling" contest (?), when he spotted a man stealing his horse. Angereau grabbed another horse and took off after him. The thief pulled his horse off to the side of the road (Levias-Salem Rd. in Crittenden Co.), and as Angereau rode past him, the man shot Angereau in the back and killed him. Several of Angereau's friends and neighbors formed a posse and went after the thief. The very next day, the thief was found hanging from a tree near Solon School.
Jimmy got this account from one of Angereau's granddaughters, Florence Davidson Stalions (daughter of Paulinah Franklin Davidson). Angereau was buried in Crittenden County on a farm he owned. !MISC: page 249, "Crittenden Co., KY Births, Deaths, Etc., Vol. I", "10 Mar 1851, William BARKER, poor free child of color, who will be age 3 on 15 Dec 1852, apprenticed to Anjern FRANKLEN to learn the trade of a farmer until 15 Dec 1869, when he will be age 21."
Notes for LUCINDA STEPHENS: Her name first appears on 1850 U.S. Census taken on 10 Jul 1850. Age was listed as 25, but this may be incorrect as her first child would have been born when Lucinda was only about 11 years old. She may more likely have been born in 1815 instead of 1825.
Notes for SARAH J. MORRIS: !DEATH: Angereau married his next wife in Johnson Co., IL in 1866, so I am assuming that Sarah must have died shortly after Benjamin's birth.

ADAMS, Livingston County, is a native of Dixon [sic] County, Tenn., and was born February 11, 1824. He is the fifth of a family of eight children born to George and Sallie (Boyd) Adams, both parents natives of Halifax County, Va. George Adams' parents came from Ireland and were among the early settlers of the Old Dominion State, subject's grandfather dying there shortly after the Revolutionary war. George Adams emigrated from Virginia to Tennessee in 1823, settling in Dixon County, where he resided until 1832, at which time he moved to Livingston County, Ky., locating near the town of Old Salem. He was a successful farmer, and died in Crittenden County in 1845. Sallie (Boyd) Adams died of cholera in the year 1833. The subject of this sketch was reared on a farm, and remained with his parents until their death, when he commenced life for himself as a common laborer, finding employment on different farms for the small sum of $8 per month. Part of the time he worked in a mill, and later was employed as overseer on a plantation, for which service his wages were increased to $13 per month. He was next engaged with his brother, Richard, with whom he farmed in partnership until 1849, since which time, with the exception of three years spent in California, he has been farming in Livingston County. In 1854, after returning from California, he located in Livingston County, one and a half miles from where he now lives. One year later he purchased his present place of residence, a beautiful farm of 266 acres, in Carrsville Precinct, to which he has added at different times until he now owns 350 acres, the greater part of which is in a high state of cultivation. Mr. Adams belongs to the Masonic fraternity, and is a member of the United Baptist Church. Mr. Adams was married March 28, 1850, to Sophronia, daughter of Anthony and Sallie Franklin, of Livingston County. The following children have been born to this union: Henry I., Mary H., wife of W.H. Kidd; Sallie, wife of William Rutter; Kit C., George E., Florence, Jefferson D. (deceased), Ida A. (deceased) and Robert E. (deceased).
