to anyone interested in Frankland genealogy:
I'm a direct descendent of George Frankland, who started the Burnley Express. He and his family emigrated, first to New Zealand and then to California in the 1880s.His daughter, Mary (1855-ca. 1927) married a Philip Keating, an Irishman living in Burnley at the time, and, in California, they raised six children, of whom one of them was my grandmother, Onora (1879-1943).She had no children, except one, by Robert Allen Nicol, originally from Dunfurmeline, Scotland, and that was my mother, Tamara (1920-2001).I am the son (b. 1945) of her marriage with Noel Rey, and am a professor of philosophy at the Univ of Maryland at College Park.
I'd be interested in any further genealogical information people may have, and could supply some further material on the Franklands, if anyone's interested.
