I have found the above chap in the 1881 census with his wife (Margaret)and children (Lily, Alice A, William and Benjamen) so I know this is the correct person. The problem is that I can't find his birth in Rochdale only a couple of Williams in Clitheroe.
Does anybody out there think they might have a link?
