Thanks for the Wexford lead. I should have mentioned that my great grandfather was from Ireland. I was aware of the Norman-Irish origins of the name. I'm married to another Norman-Irish whose maiden name was Condon with about as many alternative spellings as Franey. They came from Co Tipperary. Of course, the Normans are really Vikings who settled in what is now France before expanding across the channel. That's a scary thought, isn't it?! I'll check ancestry.com. I've also been looking at familyhistory.com. All the best to you. Slainte!
