Thomas

As you may or may not know, Franey is an Irish name, or to be more precise, a Norman-Irish name. The Franeys came to Ireland in the twelfth century as part of the Norman Invasion. The Irish for the name is de Freine and the modern variants of the name include Franey, Freaney, Freeney, Frayne, to name but a few. The Franeys come from the county of Wexford in Ireland. I have been chatting to a number of people on the net who are looking for Franeys. Names such as James, Andrew, John, Patrick, Andrew and Catherine seem to be names common to most Franeys. Another good site to check for Franeys is www.ancestry.com.

All the best!
Joe.
