John Hepworth Francklow is my great great grandfther and I too have been trying to determine his death date. In the Lexington Co., SC census, he is 62 years and declared Insane (enumeration date September 2, 1850). I also have his record at the Lunatic Asylum of South Carolina and it says he was admitted May 18, 1850 and under Remarks, it says "died after (Aug 9th 1850) removal." Evidently, he went back home to die and was there on September 2, 1850 and if we can believe the census taker, he could not have died August 8, 1850. Have no idea where Aug 8th came from. I would appreciate hearing from you.
