Nicolas T. Charlet

An old family story/tradition says that the family can claim Nicolas Toussaint as an ancestor. In all my research I have not found any proof to that claim. The earliest ancestor I have is Fredrick W.Charlet, b.1816 in Prussia, which is supposedly close to the French border or Alsace-Lorraine. Can anyone help me out with this mystery? Please? Thank you. S.
