Pierre Charles Courtois b. abt. 1784 in Chambery

Pierre Charles Courtois was orphaned when he was about 10yo (family stories say that his parents were both beheaded during the French Revolution) ... he was pressed into service for Napoleon when he was 14yo ... in July 1808 he was captured at the Battle of Bailen (he must have been part of Gen. Dupont's army) ... in May 1809 he was recruited into the Regiment de Mueron ... his enlistment record here stated he was born in Chamery, Savoie, France

I'm not only seeking his parents names and other ancestors, but I'd like to learn about his service in Napoleons Army ... my only clue is that he was captured at the Battle of Bailen therefore must have been in Gen. Duponts army in 1808 ... his obituary also states that he was on a French ship at the Battle of Trafalgar (that would be in 1805)

Did they have soldiers aboard the French ships at Trafalgar? Or do you think he was transfered to the after Trafalgar?

Does anyone have any info or suggestions as to how I can learn these answers?

Thank you for your attention.
Michael
