The lab, familytreedna.com, doing the DNA testing in Houston, Texas uses numbering for each individual for the DNA, not names so the privacy of an individual is not an issue. Nothing is public unless the individual wants it to be made public and then they would have to release it. I have chosen not to release the results of our Bushong study to the public on a website. The DNA is collected to establish relationships between individuals. Besides that, what can be done with DNA that one would be afraid to participate? Everyone in the world is related one way or the other.
