I do not know about us milit archives, just a book written by an american Jonathan Gawne the battle for Brest (refers to 1944) but there is a page about ww1
the largest camp was in Le Mans
lot of documents on google (the new Langley!) with key words
"Americains""Brest" "1ere Guerre Mondiale"
